2.1 Residence and Work Permit

  • For staying and working in Germany you need a Residence and Work Permit.

    For getting a Residence Permit you have do your Registration at the Local Registration Office and to care for a visa
    (please have a look at 1.1 Entry to Germany).

    Address Registration

    • Place-of-abode certificate
    • Register at the local district office
    • Ideally within one week
    • Even if living temporarily in a hotel

    • Passport
    • Residence Permit
    • Birth Certificate

    For a Work Permit you have to get into contact with the Central Labor Office.

    • Work Permit
    • Right to work (when the applicant has already worked legally in Germany)

    Required documents:

    • Application
    • Certificate of Registration
    • Passport (+ 2 photos)
    • Statement from the company (e.g. duration, position etc.)
    • Police Clearance
    • Clean Bill of Health
